Samin Yasar | Digital Safety Educator in Bangladesh

Samin Yasar is a 17-year-old digital safety educator, open-source builder, and student from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Currently in his first year of HSC at Rajuk Uttara Model College, his journey started with a deep curiosity about how systems break — cybersecurity — which quickly grew into a mission to protect vulnerable people from social engineering, phishing, and digital fraud. Through grassroots workshops and 1-on-1 guidance across rural Bangladesh, Samin teaches communities the fundamentals of digital safety: how scams work, why companies will never ask for your OTP or passwords, and how to recognize fraud before damage is done. This work stems from seeing everyday villagers targeted without any access to protective digital education. Alongside digital security, Samin Yasar and his father have planted more than 200 fruit, shade, and flowering trees across rural Bangladesh. These trees serve as living community spaces maintained daily, combining long-term environmental restoration with public wellness. Believing that knowledge and security tools should be freely accessible to everyone regardless of economic background, Samin builds open-source software and provides free community tech support. His primary goal is to formalize these efforts into an institution for free digital literacy, ensuring every citizen can navigate the digital revolution safely.
